Family Legal Aid Supervising Solicitor

37 hours per week.  Salary £42,420 per annum

Are you a family solicitor looking for a new challenge and the chance to provide vital legal support to those most in need?

If so, then Norfolk Community Law Service has just the opportunity for you as we enter an exciting new phase in our ambition to provide access to justice and equality, in particular for victims of domestic abuse.

We are seeking an experienced solicitor to join our Family Team and supervise our new Legal Aid Agency contract, to provide specialist legal advice, casework and advocacy at court to people who would otherwise have to represent themselves.

Working with our Family Service Manager, the successful applicant will help to develop practices to ensure that NCLS can make a real difference to people who have been the victim of Domestic Abuse. Our contract starts in September and we will be focusing on private family law.

Norfolk Community Law Service is a registered charity, which has been delivering free, independent and confidential legal advice in Norfolk for forty years.

Family Legal Services Officer

Salary: £25,501.13 (pro rata)

22.5 hours a week

Norfolk Community Law Service has an exciting opportunity for someone looking to make a real difference to the lives of the most vulnerable members of our community.

We offer legal advice, assistance and representation to around 4,000 people per year who would otherwise potentially have to go without such vital support.

We are currently facing unprecedented demand from people requiring help with complex legal matters and therefore have an opportunity to expand our team through the recruitment of a new Family Legal Services Officer.

As part of this role, you would be the first contact with clients, triaging their issues and booking them in for appointments, where appropriate, into our family and domestic abuse pro-bono advice clinics.

This role is an ideal steppingstone for those who are interested in a career in Social Welfare Advice.

This role offers a hybrid way of working and our premises in Norwich city centre are very close to good public transport links.

NCAN is a partnership of accredited advice providers, committed to working together to make sure everyone in Norfolk can access good quality, free and impartial advice.

The partnership provides advice and representation across a range of legal areas such as debt, domestic abuse, family, housing, immigration and welfare benefits.

The NCAN online referral system is key to the ‘no wrong door’ approach to the provision of advice. This system is used by hundreds of professionals across multiple sectors – including the voluntary, public and health sectors.
